Spring REC Overview
The primary goal for West Morris Soccer Club’s Spring REC program is to shake off the winter blues and get kids onto the soccer field in a casual, relaxing atmosphere, but with professional training available to the children.
Outline of Season
The goal of spring soccer is to afford players in grades K-8 as many touches on the ball as possible. Sessions are divided into 30 minutes of skills training and 30 minutes of game play on small fields. The program runs for 5 weeks from early May to early June. Three sessions are offered per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at specific times for each age group. The program is run by professional trainers hired by WMSC. Although this is a casual program with no uniforms, all children must wear shinguards to participate.
All children are assigned to teams that the professional trainer will form at each session. Consistent with the relaxed atmosphere of Spring Rec, the trainers will form the teams based upon the players who show up for each individual session and the children will not be on the same “team” each week.
Coaches and Training
Professional trainers will run the sessions and there are no parent coaches or team parents.
Players are free to come to as many or as few sessions as they like, though we encourage children to come out as often as possible.
